Information graphics is a graphical representation of some sort of data or information, including graphs of results of experiments, or tables representing different sets of data.
They are visual aids to assist in delivering information quickly and effectively. -An example from the Aerospace field would be something like a model of a jet engine with labeled modules and piece parts.
An information graphic is a visual representation of data. It should be laid out in a way that is both meaningful and intuitive. In Aerospace Engineering, there are many tables and graphs that represent different flows in various conditions (pressure, temperature, density, mach number, etc.) These can range from shock tables which model oblique and normal shocks to drag and lift curves vs. angle of attack. These are great resources when looking at new problems.
This sounds quite interesting. I wish I had this course before my summer internship, where I realized the importance of information presentation, especially when management is in attendance. It's definitely a skill that can make or break one's success.
An information graphic is a visual presentation of data that is used to quickly provide information to a reader in a manner that may also by intended to persuade or influence the reader.
Examples in aerospace engineering include histograms (bar charts), pie charts of materials, Sectionals & Terminal Area Charts (for pilots), steady-state 2D flow imagery, etc...
An information graphic is some visual representation of data that is both easily readable and persuasive. In computer science, such graphs are used when plotting data for a user.
It is a visual representation of information that pertains to a certain subject. It is mainly used to simplify the subject to allow a wider range of people to understand what the persuader is trying to convey. A line chart indicating CS major hiring rates is an example.
An information graphic is an image that displays some kind of data in order to better describe that data. My field is computer science. Some examples of information graphics in computer science would be the graphical user interfaces I create to display the information to the users of my applications.
An information graphic is an image that conveys information or data in a visual manner. Ideally, it should be easier to understand or take up less space than a text explanation.
I am an Architecture major. In my field, information graphics are used to show important information related to a project in a single, legible image. For example, a ground plan for a future building may show wall locations, doors, plumbing, and electrical information all in one graphic.
An information graphic largely parallels the Daily Show with John Stewart in relation to the media and current events. Wherein the Daily Show can take a complex topic or radical idea and effectively convey such concepts to those of us in the public who aren't consistently watching eight hours of cnn a day, an information graphic bridges the gap between the backgrounds and specialties of different people.
An information graphic is a static visual display of data, like a bar graph or a pie chart. An example of an information graphic in the computer science field might be a bar chart showing the breakdown of modified code in a project over time.
An information graphic is a visual representation of data. An example of an information graphic that relates to computer science would be an image that displays the data in a binary search tree.
I would say an information graphic is an image that contains data or information that is valuable to the viewer. I believe information graphics could consist of any combination of text and images. For computer science it could be something like a class diagram.
An information graphic is type of visual argument that can summarize or emphasize evidence, contrast and compare evidencei, illustrate points of an argument.
An image that presents information in a clear and concise manner that is easily understandable. An example might be a graph comparing different speeds of processors.
Informational graphics are visual aides that relay technical information clearly and efficently while building the argument within in the document it is contained. One example would be presenting models of material structure within a research paper.
Information graphics can include maps, charts, diagrams, and schematics that are intended to convey large amounts of information quickly and efficiently via effectual visual organization.
An image or series of images that provides information in a usable and meaningful manner.
An example from my experience would be Business Process Procedures, which are a series of pictures describing a business process and illustrating key points and concepts during completion of the process.
Information graphics are visual representation of data and results. In many research papers, the authors publish their results in the form of charts and graphs. This allows readers to determine significance of both the data and the conclusion.
An information graphic is a visual representation used to convey data. Examples from computer science include such things as information flow diagrams and EER diagrams.
Information graphics are a way to quickly grab the audience's attention and provide technical information to the audience. They can range from maps to technical instructions. In my work life I frequently pull up schematics on computers for repair.
An information graphic is a visual representation of data or an image that contains concrete data. Examples from my field include illustrations in research papers and text books that help the reader have a better grasp on the information being relayed.
An information graphic is a visual representation of technical information that present relevant data regarding a certain subject. Information graphics augment written communication and provide an effective means of presenting dense data. In my major, info. graphics are used in PowerPoint presentations and research papers.
An information graphic is a visual tool or representation of data which allows the viewer to see complex information more easily than they would be able to without an information graphic. An example from my field might be a download/upload speed chart which shows the speed of download/upload speed at a particular location.
An information graphic is a visual representation of technical information that either persuades or helps the audience understand the subject matter. In my major information graphics are used in my senior design class to show measurements of a certain design.
Information graphic is visual representation of information and data one wishes to convey to the audience. Examples may be graph and diagrams in research papers or flow charts for program.
When one represents relevant data using a visual medium, they are using an information graphic. These graphics help in conveying said data the audience easily. Examples of information graphics from my field include graphs and images in research papers or presentations.
An information graphic is a visual representation of a set of data. As a rule, the amount of text used in the infographic should be minimal yet effective, and serve as a supplement to the message delivered by the graphic.
The excellent map of Georgia Tech at gtalumni.org/map is an interactive infographic that allows the user to isolate certain categories of buildings, as well as to overlay the map with satellite imagery. Clicking on each location provides a popup with the building's ID, its occupants, and usually a descriptive photograph. This makes for a clean, easy to navigate, and informative user experience.
In a a stricter sense, information graphics are used in publications in order to supplement written text -- they are used to clarify, simplify, and/or add quantitative evidence to points being covered.
An information graphic is a visual representation of data or information from any of a large number of sources. It can be a graph, a picture, a diagram, or anything that is visually depicting data.
A good example of an information graphic for Computer Science is shown on this webpage:
An information graphic is a visual depiction of information or data intended to present information quickly and provide clarity to complex information. There are many forms including but not limited to maps, diagrams, and charts.
As a Computer Scientist, any sort of flow chart or process flow is an excellent example of how information graphics is used. Here is an example: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d6/FlowchartExample.png
Information Graphics are visual representations of data which are easy to interpret. Charts, graphs, and pictures are some common examples. In relation to academics, they are frequently used by teachers to facilitate learning. For example, a computer scientist may use a bar graph to demonstrate algorithm run times.
An informational graphic depends largely on context. While a picture of bird on a white background in and of itself is not an information graphic, that same picture in an Audubon book could be. In general, however, it contains some image augmented with another form of data transfer.
An information graphic is a picture that tells you how to do something or tells you about something, as I was saying in class. I am a Computer Science major, so an example of an information graphic in my field would be an image of a computer in a computer manual telling you what each part of the computer is/does. Another example would be a visual layout of the components of a piece of software. This image may inform the user of how to use the software and how the little parts of the software interact with one another.
Information graphics are pictorial oriented tools that contain certain type of information about a subject of study, and it can only be considered as one if it is used in a correct context.
An information graphic is a visual of some sort that conveys a message, whether simple or complex, conveying a lot of information or very little. An example would be an emergency evacuation card in the seatback of an airplane. (Aerospace Engineering)
An informational graphic is a viewable material that is used to convey information. It may (and indeed often does) contain text and images. The difference between an informational graphic and a standard "graphic" is the context -- primarily that an informational graphic is designed to teach, convey information, or otherwise send a message to the viewer.
From my own field, common informational graphics are graphs, tables, SEM images, artistic renditions of molecules, photos of samples and machinery and many other things.
Information Graphic is a way to convey information not only through text but also through images, symbols, or pictures. It is possible for any image to be an information graphic but it also depends on the context, or who is looking at the image and how they perceive it.
One of the best examples of information graphics in my field (materials science) is the Ashby chart. https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/File:Ashby_plot_big.jpg
Ashby charts relate trends in the properties of whole classes of materials by creating envelopes (bubbles) around data points to show how metals, ceramics, polymers, etc behave as a group. These charts can be used to aid materials selection by helping an engineer zero in on materials of interest by observing materials trends and following trendlines.
Anyone that's interested can find the book, Materials Selection in Mechanical Design, 4th ed. by Michael Ashby on Amazon or the 3rd ed. at http://portal.library.gatech.edu/vufind/Record/736965
The 4th edition especially is a beautiful work that is full of charts, tables and contextual information that is valuable for any mechanical or materials engineer.
An informational graphic in the context of my field of Biomedical Engineering is usually a labeled diagram, picture, table, or chat that complements the report, study, or book one might be reading. These graphics' purpose is to complement and further explain a passage in the reading. Some examples might include a labeled illustration of the quadricep muscle and femur of an athlete in a dynamics textbook to illustrate the tension and flexion of a muscle during motion or a graph showing the results that a journal article cites.
A visual representation of information, often statistical data or a set of instructions, that utilizes graphic elements like colors, symbols, and images and contains a minimal number of complete sentences.
An information graphic is not simply a picture, but a visual representation which conveys information to the reader. When text becomes too complicated, an action can be represented by a picture to instruct or in a graph to collectively examine date.
In the field of Public Policy, political polls are often translated into line charts to track a politicians popularity. Another example would be discussing the debt crisis and using pie charts to represent percentages of spending for certain programs or bar graphs to exhibit how much of each program will need to be cut. Even voting booths have pictures illustrating to voters how to operate the machines.
They say a picture is worth 1000 words, but I think an infographic can be worth so much more. Infographics are today's visual information. In such a fast pace moving world, pictures can grasp our attention quickly and they don't require us to dedicate hours to reading. They are more appealing in the technological world we know live in. People often thing these images must be cute little pictures, but it could be a graph or table with actual information as well.
An information graphic is an effective method of quickly conveying data in the manner that the author intends. In Architecture, information graphics compose the majority of planning and design. Site plans analyses, for example, are often depicted in the form of labeled diagrams that summarize a vast range of information, such as material, terrain, temperature, color, etc. and arrange it in the context of the building's mapped site.
An information graphic is a display of information that allows you to receive the data with some assistance from other methods, etc. besides just numerical values or text. Meaning that to have an effective information graphic, certain design elements must be present to enhance the data set or make it easier to read.
As a Computational Media major, information graphics is extremely important to me and is a big part of what I do everyday. I am particularly interested in advertisement so I understand the significance of effectively presenting information to people. I also deal a lot with user interfaces and interactivity and how to organize data in an appealing manner.
An information graphic illustrates a set of data in a visual format in a clear and persuasive manner.
